Ethan - I second your remark about Forest & QPR. Any one for Viv Anderson, for Gary Birtles?

Love the attention to detail.

Not many people would write about the carling cup.

Leeds v Liverpool is tasty, well maybe 10 years ago!

What do you think of the Europa League?

I had a similar conversation with my brother not too long ago about former Premiership clubs and where they are now. Its quite hard to believe that teams such as Southampton who fielded players such as Matt Le Tissier, Shearer and Beattie will soon be playing in League two. I'd love to see former premiership clubs such as Leeds again in the Premiership as well as Wednesday and Coventry.

Good article Ethan. The two things that will tarnish the romanticism of these Carling Cup ties are (1) many of the Premier League clubs will field reserve sides and (2) the games will only be available on Setanta Sports in the United States so many English football fans may not get a chance to watch them.

Cheers,
The Gaffer
