Carlos Tevez Set to Join the Old Trafford Revolution

The English newspapers are reporting that Carlos Tevez is poised to become Manchester United’s latest signing as early as next week. If the deal goes through, the implications for the Old Trafford club would be enormous.

First, United will have managed to secure the biggest transfer target of the summer in Europe away from the grasps of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Second, the deal will allow Man United to focus on pre-season training with all major transfers secured early in the transfer window (Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson). Many of United’s competitors are still chasing transfer targets, which will prevent the players from being able to seamlessly integrate with the rest of the players.

Third, this will be perhaps Man United’s greatest summer ever for transfer signings. All credit has to go to the Glazers for providing Ferguson with the cash to spend, spend, spend.

Simply put, there’s a revolution happening at Old Trafford on the pitch which will make Man United a formidable opponent during the 07/08 Premier League season. Even a team such as Chelsea will have a difficult time keeping up.

Speaking of Chelsea, their MO this summer has been to spend wisely. The more I see Claudio Pizzaro, the more impressed I become. He was successful in the Champions League for Bayern Munich, but his performances for Peru in the Copa America have been nothing short of spectacular. He’s the type of player, much like Tevez, that forces his teammates to work harder as they try to keep up with the tenacity of Peru’s captain.

But, for now, the headlines are with Man United.

Obviously, this would make them odds on favorites to win the title.

I am intrigued by what this means off the pitch though. The club is saddled with a lot of debt and has normally been a bit more frugal. Is Glazer trying to prop up the club to sell high?

What the FX#$%^. The next time you boys complain about Chelsea’s spending take a look in the mirror. I guess seeing Tevez beat your sorry blokes the day you were awarded the champions medal was too much so you went out and bought him. But we should all feel sorry for United because of Abramowich’s spending.

I am very dissapointed by this. I thought Tevez wanted out of England. If he in fact wants to stay in the EPL, he should stay with the fans and club that supported him and he became a hero of in just a few short months instead of joining the scum that are united. (my citeh heart bleeds right now.)It seems like United is splashing more cash around than Chelsea ever did and I am sick about it.

I should also point out all the clips of Tevez on TV this morning have poor Jay DeMerit trailing him in the Copa debacle last week. Poor Jay, and poor US “B” team now that COMEBOL has called us out for sending a “B” side.

Hey Gaffer.
On a related topic. Now that the atrocious justice system of the EPL has run it’s disastrous course, what is my best bet of catching The Blades on TV in the US next season? Is it Sentanta or ITV?
Thanks for great site. One of the best fansites on English football anywhere.

Tevez already mentioned a week or so ago in an interview over the speculation of his future that he wouldn’t mind staying in England, and that he feels adapted to English football and likes it there. But right now, his priority is Copa America, so we’ll have to wait and see.

According to Skysports

The Premier League will block Carlos Tevez’s proposed move to Manchester United if they are not satisfied the transfer fee will go to West Ham.

3megistus,

No confirmation yet, but Setanta Sports should be showing some of the Championship matches (including the Blades) on US television.

As soon as I hear more, I’ll post a news item on the sister site, ChampionshipTalk.com

Cheers,
The Gaffer

Gaffer, isn’t this Javier Macherano in the attached photo? Doesn’t look like Tevez to me —
