American football writer Ives Galarcep reports that Bobby Zamora and Jlloyd Samuel have received their Trinidad and Tobago passports after playing for England at the U-21 level. Both will be called into the full national side for this week’s critical World Cup qualifier versusĀ  El Salvador.

With Zamora and Samuel’s additions to the CONCACAF ranks, let’s look at the players from the region that grace EPL squads.

Its not a new rule, but if you don’t get capped at the senior level, and prove linage you can declare for nation. Just like Rossi was capped at the junior level for the USA, but declared for Italy’s senior team.

Nice run down. Yet, with all this talent coming from this side of the pond is there an increase in interest in Concacaf football in England or for that matter in Europe. My impression would be no. For instance is the US v. Mexico game going to draw a large TV audience in Europe. It’s being played at a good time for them, certainly not the American audience.
