defoe since his move to portsmouth has been one of the most in form strikers in the EPL, the massive seasons of ronaldo, torres, adebayor and even anelka to an extent have shown him up but he has been scoring regularly at club level with a strike rate of 1 in 2 for a over 40 games. Thats in a team with more then 1 striker usually.
He probably isnt an amazing striker since he lacks that bit of power to force his way through, but is developing into a pacy intelligent striker with great finishing ability.
Will he get chosen for england? Well at the moment heskey has done very well for england, and maybe defoe and rooney are too similar they both like occupying the same area.
Honestly i think c.cole is a better striker on his day then defoe but defoes consistency makes him at least give capello a selection headache most managers in the world wouldnt mind having.
