I totally agree with this. However i would also add that his crossing ability has improved massivly recently as shown by the couple of crosses he but across against arsenal and the one tht torres crashed againts the bar against hull. this season he has been extremely important for us and deserves all the credit he gets after the stick he recieves from fans who under value his contribution.

A cute article but i dont agree with this at all. I wouldnt describe kuyt as clumsy nor akward where did u get that from? His first touch is actually quite good. I think ppl sometimes dont notice him is becos flashy as u say but not becos hes clumsy, akward or lacking the first touch

Totally Agree w/ this article. For me Kuyt is the one player i want on the pitch when the team is not playing well(ie Hull game on Saturday). His effort and movement both on and off the ball create chances out of nothing. BTW you forgot to mention his 119 min goal against Standard Leige to get Liverpool qualified for the CL this year. A 25 million pound goal: not too bad for the only dutch man w/out a good first touch. For me on a big European night the first name on my team sheet is Mr. Dirk Kuyt: Working Man’s Hero

ONLY 10 goals in 34 appearance that’s a bloody good return for a left winger. A better goal scoring record than rooney. Not too shabby.

Kevinf7, I mean his playing style appears awkward compared to Torres or Gerrard, but, as I imply heavily in the article: it is nonetheless effective. I’ve seen him make some clumsy moves and some awful first touches, but I’ve also seen him collect the ball brilliantly and turn defenders with ease. My point was more that the clumsiness and awkwardness stand out more for Kuyt somehow because of his play, but he’s still a great player.

Bradh05, great goal and exactly the kind of contribution that makes Kuyt so vital. Can’t believe I forgot that one.
