As I suspected the squad is weak for the US and MLS must be held responsible for once again forcing Bradley to play in an international venue of some note (Copa America, the match at Sweden, etc) without his best squad.

I'm running out of patience with MLS between this issue and the continued proliferation of artificial turf in our stadiums.

Doesn't look like we're getting this game up in Canada. I suspect England will go with an experimental squad of sorts while the US, as mentioned, are not in a position to play their best XI. Could be a good chance to see some players that normally don't get a chance to shine.

As an aside, If you haven't seen this site yet, it's definitely worth checking out:

They carry schedules for both US/Canada...very complete listings. Might be a good candidate for the EPL Talk podcast :)

The English players wont care about this unless Capello makes them - this isnt the Euros as was said above and thats the problem - this is really meaningless to all involved.

I would expect the US to be playing the game on cruise control. For the English team this is their summer match without Euro 2008. For the Yanks with a MLS season now in full swing and WC qualifying starting soon why risk getting hurt.

The US is going to be playing the match with one hand behind its back. I'm told several top players WILL NOT BE PICKED for the England or Spain games to appease MLS clubs with qualifying coming up. So expect a US "B" team featuring the likes of Nate Jaqua and Troy Perkins. We'll know in a few hours who was selected.

I should point out that some of the photo's are from last years Gold Cup semi-final between the USA and Canada. You all know who the good looking guy in the EPL Talk t-shirt is, the other guy is Chicago's famous sports expert known by all as Dr. Scores. He secretly is a Mexico fan!

Soldier's Field in Chicago was the site for both games and the photos give everyone an idea about how wonderful a venue Soldier's Field is for soccer. The venue has been host too in recent years the Gold Cup finals in 2007, England and Brazil friendlies vs. the US, and the opening game of the 1994 World Cup(prior to remodeling).

I hope all here will some day be able to take in game in Chicago. Call me for travel advice. BTW, the Fire play at Toyota Park, a smaller but very nice venue to the south and west of the City of Chicago. I was there last month and it's a delight to take in a game there. The USA will play a WC qualifier there in the fall.
