Yeah, the point of the referee's decision is not to humiliate the manager (as he did).

Shane, there are a couple of different ways to pronounce it -- one of which is "mee-lawn." Check out this video for proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI7h1FRr4VM&feature=related

everything is inconsistent in football. arsenal, united, sheff united, west ham - they all have their good and bad luck with the "rules" of the game.

There is no consistency by which any standard in soccer is applied. Given the Eduardo debate and fury, look at Ronaldo who could easily get a gold in diving if he ever gets tired of soccer. Inconsitency is a key issue for all fans whether it is for indiviual players or clubs.. look at the way West Ham were penalised over the Tevez affair as oppose to teams that have been docked points--the real victims of that tragedy was Sheff Utd--ask their fans. If the reverse situation had applied, re the clubs, does anyone really thing the 'judgment' would have been the same?
Clearly Wenger should not have been sent off---particularly if compared to the antics on occassion of the opposing manager, but this was Old Trafford where a different set of rules apply to home and visiting squads.

It's not only the sending off itself. It's the manner in which it played out. Wenger was responsible in some way, but the facility to send the manager to the stand was not 'made clear' either.

Sam Allardyce kicked a bottle towards the crowd a few months ago and no action was taken. If it's a question of double standards then we also have to question that incident.

Emotions need to stay in football some how and violence is not the way, but when you assess the situation then maybe this was unnecessary from Mike Dean. He could have showed some understanding in the heated environment of Old Trafford; a wonderful place to play football (if things are going your way.)

Do you see my point?

'Arsene Wenger wrongly and comically sent off by Mike Dean'

What? If the guy cannot behave himself and set a good example then the referee was quite right in showing Red. I am in total agreement with 5:43pm reply, hear, hear.

Arsene Wenger was quite rightly sent off for his hysterical reaction and lack of respect for the decisions of the officials.

It is time the media stopped having a blatant double standard in Arsenal's favour.
