Brant Parsons of the Orlando Sentinel, and the Orlando Sentinel.com stops by to talk about Arsene Wenger’s impact on Arsenal and English Football. Wenger recently collected his 1,000the Premiership point and broke the record for the longest tenure as an Arsenal manager. Among the topics discussed on this show are Wenger’s training techniques, his ability to spot excellent young players, his emphasis on eating right and how that lengthened he careers of several players and much more. We also debate whether or not Arsenal’s desire to “walk the ball into the back of the net,” and Wenger’s overemphasis on young players has hurt Arsenal in recent seasons.

I forget who the reporter was (Think it was Tompkins), they did a top 5 on what teams cost from a transfer perspective, the numbers are as follows:
Man City – £270m
Chelsea – £240m
Man Utd – £219m
Spurs – £202m
Liverpool – £159m
Arsenal – £90m
So Wegner has done very well, and is punching above his weight from a tranfer cost perspective (Lying 6th but a top 4 side). On the wage bill front, the Arsenal Board have been a lot kinder as the table is as follows:
Man City
Chelsea
Man Utd
Arsenal
Liverpool
Spurs
This is a summary of all of Arsenal’s player movements during the Wenger era:

Wenger is the best coach in England – I hope he sees out his career with them
