A pertinent, I swear, comment. For anyone who watched the US v Slovenia game, we saw a shaky first half that was plagued with cheap losses of possession. The player most guilty, although even Bradley had a shaky start, was Jose Fransisco Torres. This is a, albeit young, man who has been on smoking form for his club side, Pachuca, and in recent international friendlies. He is an excellent ball playing center mid, but has limited experience in the international game. That really showed in the Slovenia match. The substitution at halftime to bring on Edu, a man with international experience and good end of season form with Rangers, really turned the match around. I think that touch of experience helped make the difference. To summarize, I think that if the US had started with Edu over Torres to begin with then the group would look very different right now.

In England terms, I think that starting someone like Hart, an excellent goalkeeper, over James in the second game would have been a mistake. As for this particular issue, Dawson’s form at end of season was phenomenal and Upson’s form was very poor. In my mind, experience does not make up for the large gap between their end of season form. But this is an unusual circumstance in that the season form had such a huge gap.

Incidentally, I hope that England win this game and get out of the group. England would then face an in form Germany (yes, I am banking on England getting second in the group). This would cause England to crash out early, but I really wish that if the US can’t win this cup (nearly impossible) that at least England would.

Both. You need both to win the World Cup.

I would prefer form over experience any day of the year but pressure can be a killer

Form. Form. Form. Form. Form. Form. Form. Form.

I understand the concerns many have emphasized about the lack of experience Hart possesses at the international level. And I agree with these concerns. If they were in a case against Scott Carson. Or Ben Foster. Joe Hart simply isnt cut from the same cloth. He is far more confident than both of those lads combined. He has the psyche. We have all seen time and time again that he has the tools. This cup can still be salvaged. Just start playing.

Yes Matt, I would like to see Hart given a chance considering he’s had a fine season compared to the other goalkeepers in the squad but it looks unlikely though unless Mr.Capello is willing to take the risk…but experience comes from playing and he hasn’t played much for England…so that could work against him
