England have to be considered along with Spain the favorites to win the World Cup next year.

    Consider Capello’s contributions:

A belief in the side and winning

    More tactical discipline

The use of role players like Garreth Barry to stabilize the midfield

A midfield unequaled in skill level on the planet, While Spain has Ineista and Xavi they don’t have players in the role of Carrick or Barry who can make a similar impact.

The strongest central defense pairing in the world: Terry and Ferdinand

A world class striker in Rooney playing with Emile Heskey a good target man who plays off Rooney very well.

Only a lack of confidence and belief can derail England now. What other nation has run through qualifying like this? Brazil and Argentina are struggling. Neither has the squad right now to make an impact in South Africa. Holland is in flux although they could be tough. Italy is past their prime. France? They may not even qualify. Portugal? They have the world’s best player but little else.

I like England’s chances. Only Spain could possibly stop England.

John H, have you watched any of Brazil’s recent qualifiers? If you seriously rate England ahead of Brazil your football knowledge has to be seriously questioned.

Dunga has transformed Brazil into a tactical side that can take down anyone on most days. Just wait until the new Brazil is unleashed on unsuspecting Euros like yourself next summer.

Moreover do you honestly believe England would beat Italy or Holland in a do or die match at a World Cup? What in England’s history or recent triumphs over UEFA minnows indicates they could handle such a task?
