Come on Rafa let's now get Alonso signed to 2013.He deserves a contract extension.
Another great news for the Liverpool fans is that Ronaldo may be going to Madrid.

Loyalty? It's business. Liverpool are satisfied that they don't have a Morientes or Forlan on their hands and simply want to protect their investment. Torres probably has drunk Benitez's kool aid about winning the league yet again next season. If the gaffer has any sense, he will spend a bob or two on a strike partner to help Torres, a back up to fill in for Torres, and a winger that can actually cross the ball to Torres.

This just goes to show the loyalty of the man and his love towards the club. As he had said before, he needs good football and not the good money. Hard to find a player of such quality and with such a loyalty and passion towards football and club. Liverpool can only progress forward under the lights of players like Gerrard, Torres, Kuyt, Alonso..........I personally want him to be the next Anfield legend. With his quality, I don't think it takes long time for him to achieve that. Remember the name, "El Nino"

It's actually not an extension to his contract, copied from Liverpool’s website:

Fernando Torres has agreed a new, improved contract with Liverpool, reflecting his standing as one of the world's top strikers.

The 25-year old, who hit his 50th goal for the Reds in last Sunday's win against Spurs, was already tied to Anfield for the next four seasons after signing a six-year deal in 2007.

The new contract includes an option for a further year's extension to 2014.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez said: "Fernando is one of the best strikers in the game today and, at his age, can only get better.

"Every major side would want him in their team, but he has shown how much he wants to achieve success at Liverpool by committing his future to the club. He's a special talent, but still has the hunger to improve his game."

Torres joins Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger, Steven Gerrard and Benitez in agreeing new deals at Anfield over the past two months.

Benitez added: "We've made huge progress this season and now we need to take the next step. We are building something special here and securing such important players on long-term deals means we can move forward with confidence.

"This sends out a very positive message to everyone connected with the club."
