I had the same issue visiting the UK and Ireland over the summer for internet access. I needed to stay in touch for business and almost every hotel had some high speed access for a price. I had a list of Wi-Fi hot spots in London found on the BBC London site as a back-up. Also their are various web sites that will give a listing of hotspots in every major town.
