Fox Promotes Champions League Coverage (Video)

We received a pleasant surprise today when a Fedex package arrived from Fox Soccer Channel. Inside was a box of promotional items to help promote Fox’s coverage of the Champions League. Presumably the box is being sent to journalists and bloggers across the country. It’s a classy touch from Fox, and just goes to show what a good job they’re doing at promoting the Champions League coverage across FSN, Fox Sports en Espanol, FX and Fox Soccer Channel.

To give you an idea of what the journalists across the country will be receiving, I put together a short 3-minute video of me opening the box and revealing the items inside.

I don’t know how sending some stuff to journalists can ” show what a good job they’re doing at promoting the Champions League.” I’d far prefer to see some mention of the champions league during their other sports coverage.

Phew – I expected Steven Cohen to fall out of the box there, Gaffer.

The (rather oversized) container for your daughter is called an esky.

We are already seeing the benefits of the FOX coverage of the UCL. Espn never showed any of the qualifying rounds and now Fox will show all of the final round playoff matches! Espn never showed more than one match per matchday live even though they had plenty of places to show them (espn, espn2, espn classic, espnU espnnews.) They only showed one delayed match (sometimes) and that was on espn classic. I still don’t understand whats classic about a game that’s 2 hours old, lol! Anyway cheers to FOX and to EPLTALK!

    Gaffer:
DirectTV has boatload of “UEFA” channels as of last week w/ Champions League games listed. One has Timisoara-Stuttgart listed as a live game, the other one is Levski-Debrecen(Ch-463) Are these games free for FSC subscribers or are they P-P-V?
    Thanks!

Ivan, I believe it’s going to be available for free and not on PPV.

Eladio, ah you young whippersnapper! ;)

      Thanks for the ego boost!

Seriously, I usually try to write in a basic writing style rather than write as the old codger that I am.

Dante, looks like they’re not showing Premier League games mid-week when there’s Champions League on. They’re showing the Liverpool v Stoke game on delay, correct, but that’s it for this week.

      Cheers,
