Good article Pat. As soon as I started to read the article it reminded me that I needed to go to who are ya design and buy the Super Frank T-shirt. Hopefully with the way ManU’s defense played today against Bayern will be signs of what Chelsea can expect this Saturday. It also disappointing what happened to Rooney.

Bayern Munich completely dominated the second half of that match and fully deserved the win. With their first-choice back four, Man U still looked fragile with Van Der Sar saving them time and again. With Chelsea’s current form, look out.

Bayern player top notch football today. It was a joy to watch. I’m rooting for them since Chelsea are out.

Indeed. If Chelsea want to walk away from Old Trafford with three points, then they desperately need to have Anelka, Drogba, Malouda and co. to apply constant pressure to the United back 4 and stretch them out wide. Bayern totally deserved the first leg win today, Olic’s big 20-yard sprint to take the ball away from Malouda shows the determination in their squad.

Whoops, I meant take the ball away from Evra, not Malouda. Hey, they’re both French internationals!

It is rumored that Mike Dean is going to be refing the match on Saturday. I wonder if Chelsea win a penalty he will make Lampard take the shot 3 times.

I’m just wondering if he’ll award any penalties at all to either side…the man has a penchant for red cards but not for real cohesive penalties. I’m ecstatic for Saturday’s match, but I couldn’t be less worried about the fairness of the game for both sides when the EPLTalk Twitter account tweeted that he would be the match official. Regardless, it should be quite the match, I’m expecting it to be a bit more energetic than the first outing between the two back on my birthday in November.

I hope so, but I could see a cagey start. No doubt Ancelotti will be picking the film from tonight’s Bayern match apart and trying to get at that back four like you mentioned.

Agree – Lamps definitely drives Chelsea’s effectiveness… they have been totally a different team with him playing well the past few matches… and vs Inter and Blackburn he was nearly invisible…. I am really hoping this stretch of form continues through the weekend. Additionally, Chelsea didn’t have a match mid-week so have been able to prepare solely for Man Utd. Man what a game that should be, and in HD on ESPN! Can’t wait.

    Great article!

Thanks Smitty! This game is going to be epic, and with Rooney out it is Chelsea’s title to lose now.
