Like most Villa fans, I am disappointed to see Barry leave us, especially for a team against whom we will be competing for European places next season. But, he has given us 12 loyal years and deserves to be remembered as a Villa great. I wonder how many of our current younger stars will be at Villa after 12 years?? Good luck to him (as long as we beat them next season)

One other thing… it’s a World Cup year next season and Barry will have fewer games to play while at Manchester City. He may be thinking about preparing himself for South Africa as well.

Barry is not a hypocrite. He’s been guaranteed a starting spot and will get paid more. Professional soccer players have a short life-span and they most make the most of it while they can. Gareth Barry did his time at Villa, they didn’t make the Champions League and now he will be able to be a part of something new and exciting at City. Good for him.

Downing is severly over-rated. When the s**t hit the pan for Boro he was found looking. As you said, the rest won’t go, but it’s Tevez i’m worried about (Man U fan). That Kia Jo- or whatever his agents name is scares me. If he were to see big money in his hand he’d say yes to bloody Acrington Stanley (with respect). With Berbatov out of confidence since January, we really need him.
