Mike Ashley has already sold at least one important Newcastle player against the manager's publicly expressed better judgment. Will the Glasers back Sir Alex and turn down an offer of $270 million for Ronaldo? Will Hicks and Gillette, who balked at a few million to buy Benitez's key pick of the fall transfer window, have what it takes to just say no to the sheikhs' petrodollars? When selling players becomes more profitable than winning, even owners who are not under financial pressure will be tempted to take the money and run. If they don't do the honorable thing, if they sell out to Abu Dhaby, that would be the end of the Premiership as we know it.
