I’m very happy City have bought Adebayor, Santa Cruz and Tevez because when Robinho got subbed last season the replacement wasn’t of equal quality and we had to make do with Evans, Sturridge or Caicedo. Benjani was always injured, Bellamy got injured and Bojinov wasn’t at full fitness and Jo wasn’t even Hughes’ or Sheikh Mansours decision to buy. We now have enough competition and firepower to score goals and at last have quality subs coming on, unlike in the past whereby the subs didn’t even do anything worthwhile. In the Premier League you need excellent prolific strikers and backups for the 1st team. Could you honestly see Evans/Caicedo terrorising defences week in week out scoring bags of goals if Robinho, Wright-Phillips or Ireland got long-term injuries?. Who would replace Gerrard or Van der Sar or Lampard if they got injured?

I think that City should change their motto to “The best defense is a good offense”

Peter don’t forget to include SWP, Elano, Petrov & Ireland who are all attacking midfielders, not to mention that they are linked with/agreed a fee for (depending which story you read) Adebayor.

To be fair to City they are also trying to buy Lescott, Lucio, & Terry which would have to count as an improvement to their defensive ranks.

Exactly! And wasn’t it their defense that was the real problem last season!
I have to say though, I’d rather a team with too many forwards than too few.
Perhaps they are just buying forwards first, then they’ll start shopping for midfielders, then defenders and then a nice new goaly for Xmas.
