As a Bolton fan I truly can’t express my dislike for the man strongly enough. He’s taken the heart and soul out of my club. I’ve known at least 3 Bolton supporters, born and bred Bolton supporters, who have left the club because of Megson. The most frustrating part is that we CAN actually play well. I don’t know if you saw the Tottenham game in early
October, but we played nice football, and arguably out played a good Spurs side. We put out performances like that and then 2 months later have shipped 15 goals in 4 games and only scored once. Megson simply can’t inspire the team to play to their potential.

That being said we need to be realistic. Bolton won’t attract that many managers and I’m wondering if Megson gets the sack, who will come in? Someone worse? It’s quite possible. Bad times to be a Wanderer.

Gary Megson is not a very likable character, is he? Not that he probably cares that much as he should be judged by when he does as a manager not the friends he makes.

However, has Gary Megson ever been popular as a manager at any club he’s been in charge of?

Bolton? No. Nottingham Forest? No. West Brom? No. And so on and so forth.

    Cheers,

your article is spot on. These are dark times for Wanderers with both Gartside and the “manager” refusing to acknowledge that the situation actually is, very dire and their making. On paper, this side is pretty good. On Sunday, they looked like they were kids playing against grown ups without a clue what to do. Anyone noticed the lack of cohesion between the senior players on the pitch ie taylor/mcann/superkev shouting at each other?

what a well thought out, rational and accurate sumary of Gary Meson’s woeful stewardship of Bolton, after Sammy lee disasterous reign any fool could only improve , in fairness Megson inherited an aging team campo etc , it was still a team that had twice qualified for europe and had the benifit of Anelka , Megson managed to keep Bolton up by the skin of their teeth and if birmingham had not imploded towards the end of the season and had Derby not been the worst team to grace the premier league , since emm gary megson’s wba, we would have been relegated, Megson signing whilst some are good ,lack creativity , his tactics are negative and his people skills are appalling, but the real culprit for bwfc demise , is that self serving, egotistical ,moran, Garside .who employed him.
