New 08/09 Chelsea Shirt Revealed

chelsea shirt New 08/09 Chelsea Shirt RevealedThe Sun newspaper has published a photograph of the new Chelsea home shirt, which will be available for the 2008/2009 season.

Modeled by Frank Lampard, the new shirt features more of a retro feel than the current Chelsea design. The new shirt features yellow trim lines, which are more prominent than the current blue and white colors. Plus, the jersey features a completely different collar design.

Also of note is the slight difference in sponsor name from the current “Samsung Mobile” to “Samsung.”

Personally, I love the new design. It’s more elegant than the futuristic design of the current shirt. The new shirt has more of a warm feeling. Hopefully, Chelsea and Adidas will replace the horrid flourescent yellow away jersey as well as the third shirt.

Speaking of Premier League shirts, be sure to visit the EPL Talk Shop which features the widest selection of jerseys from Premier League clubs on the Internet. Unlike competing websites, the EPL Talk Shop features shirts from all twenty clubs.

In the meantime, please share your comments below and let us know what you think of the new shirt design.

No team could possibly entertain the notion of keeping the highlighter yellow 2nd strip for more than one season. That is the definition of a “one off”.

There are Chelsea Away & third shirts to go with this, the picture itself is a photoshop mockup put together by a kit designer, using the preview pictures which have been out for a while. The image of Lampard in the kit, when compared to him in last seasons are the same :)

For Alex Hleb, this is what might be the Arsenal shirts: Home & Away

The home shirt doesn’t look half bad… for a Chelsea shirt! I am very interested in seeing what the Arsenal shirt will look like for next season.

Thank goodness they’ve downed down the yellow-highlighter shirts. The current ones awful!

I like the new Chelsea home shirt…the collar gives it a bit of retro flair to it.

HAHA, that kit reminds me of my nasty long-sleeve kit from High school. The school I went to didn’t have a lot of money, but we managed to replace the home and away short-sleeved jerseys every 2 or 3 years- they weren’t too bad.

Sadly, our only long-sleeved jerseys were about 10 or 15 years old- since we were in FL, we hadly ever wore them. One week it hit about 35 or 40 degrees, and we had to rock the kelly green on white jerseys, with very bright yellow trim, striped cuffs and white collars.

The school name was plastered across the front of the jersey on a license plate-sized iron-on patch. I’m sure you get the picture- it was embarassing as hell to go out in public in those things.

Anyway, that pic took me back to happier days- thanks Gaff!
