Walcott is still a Nike athlete, correct? World Cup or not, one of its sponsored athletes is getting major attention out of this deal.

Nike wasn’t trying to help FIFA or the English national team, it was trying to help Nike.

That kind of thing represents all you need to know about Walcott. He has been endlessly hyped from day one and has done little to nothing to warrant any kind of hype. And I say that as an Arsenal supporter.

Time to get the modeling clay out Nike and fashion a Lennon. I do like it that real managers, like Capello and Dunga, can still screw up the plans of Sports Industry marketing wallahs…..because they, er want to win things.

Capello was right to cut Walcott. He’s had a crap season and if you’re going to take fast, unreliable wing-men who can’t cross…..Lennon and wee SW-P are your guys.

Walcott is also on the cover of the new Four Four Two magazine along with Ferdinand, Rooney, Lennon, and Terry. Also, ESPN the magazine screwed up big time by doing a cover story on Guisseppi Rossi in their last issue. Didn’t they realize he had no shot of making the team? He should have made it but it was obvious he wasn’t. At least Walcott had a better than 50/50 chance.

I can’t get on NIKE for having Walcott and Ronaldinho in their ads. They are just promoting their guys.
