They have serviceable strikers and midfielders capable of scoring goals. I think that puts them ahead of Bolton and Sunderland. I would also give them an edge over Birmingham.

Newcastle is undoubtedly the most talented team in that bunch, but they all seem to have quit.

I’m probably the only person on this site that watches MLS regularly. I can tell you if an MLS team were depending on Clint Dempsey, Eddie Johnson, Carlos Bocanegra and Brian McBride to make the playoffs, they may sneak in with the 6th, 7th or 8th seed. None of those players were extraordinary in MLS. Boca and Dempsey won rookie of the year and subsequently did not improve until leaving. Dempsey departure actually IMPROVED New England by returning Pat Noonan to his natural position.

    Eddie Johnson? He’s a joke.

McBride, had one really good year in MLS (1996) followed by several mediocre to bad ones plagued by injuries before leaving. He was always a standout for the national team however.

The EPL is obviously far superior to MLS, but any team counting on these players cannot stay up. It’s that simple. They have to hope Bullard and Davies keeps them up because the Americans will not: they aren’t capable, other than Keller who is now almost 38.

How right you were, and how wrong was Kartik! McBride is now a Fulham legend, and Dempsey is a proven EPL star
