The takeover is complete, but there is no money to spend. We will purchase one or two players from a few Championship sides in the next few days, starting with Tommy Smith, and any free transfers we can get just to fill out the squad. Big Al doesn’t have the cash to spend. That’s one of the things that held up the deal. Peter Storrie will probably be fired by the end of the month for putting together a consortium to buy the club and slagging off Big Al at a Fan’s Forum last week. Paul Hart is in the same boat. I don’t expect either of them to continue for very long.

Having said all of that, this squad is good enough to avoid relegation, and really only because there are so many poor teams in the Premier League this season. We just have to be better than three of them. I predict that a new low point total for avoiding relegation will be set this year.

    Play Up Pompey!!!

    Can Spurs be stopped?

The easy answer is “no”, although I do need to point out that Birmingham did win on its last visit to WHL.
