Can someone explain to me what Setanta Xtra is? I have Direct TV (in the U.S.) and I pay for Setanta. The regular old Setanta. Is this Xtra another channel or the online version of Setanta? Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me.

It’s the overflow channel that Setanta uses on DirecTV to show matches that are unable to fit on the regular Setanta Sports because there’s another game on at the same time. It’s only available to DirecTV customers and it’s at no additional cost. It’s usually used on Saturday morning at 10am ET when Setanta Sports shows one channel, and Setanta Xtra shows a different live one.

I don’t have DirecTV so I’m not sure what channel number Setanta Xtra is.

    Cheers,

I am excited that Pompey will be on ESPN2 here in the states this weekend. Even though the odds are stacked high, I believe that Portsmouth will come away victorious, albeit for a silly reason – the last time they played on FSC and got a point, it was against Middlesborough and Svetoslav Todorov got a goal. I feel ESPN2 will be a good luck charm for us. Pompey 2 Everton 1 (I’ve even got 200 pounds on it in the EPL Predictor).

I’ve been in a heated debate with a friend over whether Pompey will get relegated or not. It’s not looking good so far. Any word whether they’ll be transferring in some talent in the January window? Just shoot for 17th, boys!

Common train of thought is that Pompey is a lock to go down, but I think it’s funny that everyone forgets so quickly – Spurs had 2 points after 8 games last season, and they finished 8th. In December, it looked like Hull might challenge for a Europa League spot. It’s far too early in the season for anything to be a “lock”.

All the great players have left, but we’ve got some budding stars on the club. I think Prince Boateng is a real threat at the tip of the diamond in midfield. Dindane could prove to be a find up front. Kaboul reminds me of a young Sol Campbell, without the psychotic breaks. If Hart can get them together quickly in training to play together, and can threaten Belhadj with electro-shock treatment if he keeps making dumb mistakes, I don’t think there’s a reason they can’t finish 17th.

And I don’t feel that they need to bring in any more players in January. Let these ones get to know each other before spending unnecessary money then. I’d rather SAF hold off until summer – if we go down, I wouldn’t want a situation where we’ve just bought a bunch of players a few months ago that all want to leave rather than play in the Championship.

Personally, I’ve got Wolves, Blackburn and Hull to go down.

A little off-topic, but anyone notice the wide range of “HD” quality on ESPN2 the last few weeks. The All-Burnley channel has switched from the ESPN UK feed to the FSC feed, from 720 to 1080, and so on….sometimes mid-match!!

    What’s going on over there?
