Healy certainly isn't pacy, and is in no way comparable to Andy Johnson (who hasn't even signed). Gera will almost certainly start ahead of Dempsey and Bouazza, who is now probably even behind Lee Cook in the pecking order. Hodgson's signings in January were crucial to our survival - those of Hangeland and Nevland especially, with notable contributions from Andreason and Stalteri too. Kallio was back-up, Litmanen was a dud!

timmyg,

I agree with your view on Hangeland...he and Hughes started to form a decent partnership in central defence at the end of last season.

Nevland was effective in the "super sub" role...he was able to come on late and give the team a little boost but I think the verdict is still out on him. Let's see what he can do if he gets a more regular turn in the rotation.

"I think Hodgson also has to be held responsible for his January signings like Eddie Johnson, Brede Hangeland and Erik Nevland. For whatever that is worth."

Wait, is that a critique of those signings? Because Hangeland provided aerial cover because he's like 6'12", and is now the captain. And Nevland scored 2 goals that iced much needed victories.

Woy's (thats what us fans call him) signings have been initially suspect, but they turned out to be solid buys (Litmanen excluded). Sanchez bought a bunch of CCC players wayy over their worth, and was fired because of it.

Johnson scored 1 in 3 games for Everton, a decent return considering he was injured and had to gain match fitness and form amongst it. A Zamora & Andy Johnson partnership will prove fruitful especially with a creative midfield behind it. It looks promising BUT he aint he yet!

As a team, I don't see Fulham better than 15th. Bullard , Murphy and Dempsey form a decent midfield and the defense should improve, but where will the goals come from? I don't think either Johnson is the answer.
