Scholes might of lost a step or two but his goal last night was vintage Paul Scholes. He controled the midfield with his short crisp passes and his cross field passes. He even made a tackle that didn’t give him a yellow card. Pure class. It will be a sad day when he hangs up his boots at the end of this season or next.

Good article for the most part. A few metaphors go a little over the top in Ray Hudson fashion. Crocodiles giving birth along the Nile? OOOOOKaaayyyyyy then ! :) Like Ray, I suspect your enthusiasm just got the best of you, which is not a bad thing.

The heart of your article is good. Scholes is a player of great vision and passing ability. I think he often gets overlooked because he is such a quiet professional player — he’s a bit of a throwback to an older era — less flash and more results on the field. There is no questioning his contributions to United’s success over the last decade or more.

As a Liverpool fan, i have to say that i have the utmost respect for Paul Scholes and have done for 15 years. Always comes across as a genuinely nice bloke, with a great footballing brain. Quality player.

My enthusiasm did not get the best of me, and, to be fair, it’s an original line of mine. Happy with a Ray Hudson comparison though. I suppose Scholes is to me what Riquelme is to Hudson. Scholes was genuinely as dominant as I portrayed. I know it’s hard to believe!
