What else is a fan to do in the off-season, if not dream about big signings for next year? I enjoy it. Besides, it doesn’t cost me to read the bits on the internet.

I enjoy the speculation as much as anyone but I agree it does get ridiculous at times. Everyone is buying everyone else’s players and you have to wonder how often clubs buy players simply out of the pressure they feel to look like they are doing something.

I perfer the days when I first became a soccer fan in the early 00′s before the transfer windows were put in place. It was a lot more exciting when players would move throughout the year than just changing strips in the summer and January. How was FIFA able to put a transfer window in with the whole restraint of trade deal in the EU? The day to day news cycle in soccer is still good but it was extra tastey during the days when players moved around freely during the course of the season………………………
