Here’s another reason to get an iPhone if you don’t already have one. Sky Sports has released a free app (available in the AppStore for the Apple iPhone) entitled Football Score Centre.
The new iPhone app features a picture of Jeff Stelling on the opening screen. Once the app loads, you can see:
- The latest sports news on a ticker,
- Today’s football fixtures,
- The latest football scores updated in real-time,
- and more.
If you select one of the matches that are in progress or have been played, you can read the text commentary from the game, see photographs (for example, the player celebrating after a goal has been scored), the team line-ups, and match statistics.
I haven’t had a chance to use the app during a real match yet, but so far the iPhone app looks very impressive and gives you the feel of Sky Sports News, as far as the fonts, colors and how they display the news on the right side of the screen and in the tickers below (on programmes such as Through The Night, for example).

Gaffer:
This probably isn’t the place, but I didn’t know where else to put it:
Do we know which Champions League games will be shown next Tue and Wedn by FSC and their regional affiliates? Setanta will be showing games on delay since they will have live Premier League games during that time slot.
Also, no word from ESPN on the acquisition of the Saturday morning and Monday Premier League games. The Chelsea-Hull game is 4 days away and I would hate it if no channel shows the season opener.
Hi Ivan, Fox Soccer Channel just announced the Champions League TV schedule and you can find all of the details on our sister site, Champions League Talk, at http://www.championsleaguetalk.com/fox-soccer-channel-unveils-champions-league-tv-schedule/479

Very nice gaffer. Just installed it here and it looks very nice.
Also check out the new x2 soccer game which I think is 7 dollars but is terrific fun.
it looks very nice except for that picture of that guy on the opening. whats up with that?
Just tried to download this app on my iPod Touch. However it needs to have the new iPhone 3.0 software update installed to download it. This update/upgrade costs $10 for ‘Touch’ users while the iPhone users get this upgrade for free!!!
Downloaded it the other day and am very impressed! Has all of the information I need and is one of the best website apps I have used.
C’mon Sky, where’s the Windows Mobile version?
Every1 is going on about how good this sky sports app for the iphone is but it does not show any SPL teams at all very disappointing or is it just that i cannot find it any help welcome.
Martin, admittedly I have not been able to check out this app as of yet but, it strikes me as a bit odd that you would comment on what it lacks when it is a free application.
This item not available in US store?
How can I get it?
