Nike today officially launched the new US home shirt for the 2010 World Cup at a media event in New York City which featured Walter Bahr, the legendary American soccer player who played in the 1950 match against England when they won 1-0 in the biggest shock in World Cup history.

The USA World Cup home shirt is now available to order. The shirt is beautifully designed and features blue and red trim, as well as a diagonal stripe across the first in honor of the 1950 USA World Cup team.

Interestingly, to make the 2010 USA national team kit, Nike’s fabric suppliers sourced discarded plastic bottles from Japanese and Taiwanese landfill sites and then melted them down to produce new yarn that was ultimately converted to fabric for the jerseys. Between 7-8 plastic bottles are been used in the creation of each shirt.

A photo has been leaked of Chelsea’s new home strip for the 2010-11 season.

Designed and manufactured by Adidas, the most notable change to Chelsea’s new football kit is the addition of a red trim around the neck. Red has been used on the home shirt in the past, so it’s not a radical change. In addition to that, the shirt now features a v-neck.

Overall, however, this to me is a very unimaginative redesign of Chelsea’s new football shirt. Yes, it’s clean and aesthetically pleasing. But it looks like the Adidas designers just made a few minimal changes to make it look different enough so football fans would buy the shirts. But not so different where it tested the Adidas designers to try something really more beautiful.

Burnley’s survival in the Premier League this season is hanging on by a thread, but they did have time last week to unveil their new football kit for the 2010-11 season which is their 100 year centenary year. Whether they’ll be in the Premier League is another story which we’ll find out in the next few weeks.

The claret and blue shirt of Burnley will next season feature a revised team crest as well as a Puma design that features a modern v-neck in blue and white flashes on the shoulder.

Bolton Wanderers unveiled their new home football kit for the 2010-11 season last week. It’s a dramatic improvement from the shirt designs they’ve worn during the last two years. One looked like a sports bra. And the most recent one looked like a tea towel. This upcoming season, the shirt looks perfect.

Designed and manufactured by Reebok (yes, they’re still in business under their name), Bolton’s new home shirt features “the moisture management system ‘Play Dry’ which aids the players’ performance.”

Liverpool has officially unveiled their new home soccer shirt for the 2010-12 seasons, which is now available for pre-order.

Designed and manufactured by Adidas, the new Liverpool home shirt features a “jacquard fabric, laser cut woven club crest execution, and rich metallic gold piping detail that helps to create a jersey steeped in history, with a stylish modern twist.”

The Adidas strip represents a modern interpretation of the one worn during the 1989-90 campaign, in which the Reds won title number 18, and is available to pre-order now ahead of the official launch date of May 6, 2010.

What do you think of the new design of the Liverpool shirt? Personally, I love it except for one thing which is the pattern on the front. It cheapens the look of the shirt and makes it look like one of those shiny shirts from the 1980′s. Sure, it may look much better in person but judging by the photograph, I’m not sure why Adidas went with a retro pattern which makes it look less appealing. But that’s just my opinion.

Share your feedback about the new Liverpool football shirt design in the comments section below.

Is it or isn’t it? That’s the question regarding the recently leaked photographs of the alleged new England home shirt. Umbro says it’s fake, but I’m still not 100% convinced. And now, there’s a new piece of evidence that casts doubt on Umbro’s story.

Last week, Umbro unveiled its newest version of its logo — a red diamond (pictured). Perhaps it’s a coincidence, or maybe the designers of the fake shirt knew something we didn’t know. Or maybe the “fake shirt” is actually the real thing, or an earlier prototype.

Whatever the answer is, I still believe the “fake” England home shirt is real. The amount of detail and time put into the design is enormous. Why would a faker go to all of that trouble?

For those of you who haven’t seen the picture of the new England home shirt, here it is (with the red Umbro logo):

Not only that, but the excellent Football Shirts website has found another image of the new England home shirt (see below). The more evidence that comes out, the more likely that Umbro’s statement that the shirt is a fake is a red herring.

England’s home shirt won’t officially be unveiled until March 28 when they play Slovakia in a friendly at Wembley. Until then, share your thoughts regarding the red Umbro logo and whether you think the shirt is fake or not. And be sure to take a look at Umbro’s informative and interesting history of how their logo has changed over the years from 1924 to today.

A new photograph has been leaked of Liverpool’s away shirt for the 2009/2010 season.

Manufactured by Adidas, the new Liverpool away jersey is black with gold trim. In the above photograph found on a Liverpool fan forum, the image shows a color pantone guide next to the shirt presumably to use for color correcting.

The photograph clearly shows the Carlsberg sponsor logo, gold trim and Liverpool club crest above the heart.

On January 20, EPL Talk featured a mockup of the Liverpool kit, created by the excellent Football Shirts website which looks very similar to the above image.

Thanks to Football Shirts for the above photograph.

It’s Liverpool’s third strip for the 2008/2009 season, which was just officially unveiled by the club.

Designed by Adidas and sponsored by Carlsberg, the new third strip will be worn in select Champions League matches. The shirt features a black collar, white trim and aqua green shirt color.

Voted the second worst design of the 08/09 Premier League shirts, the new shirt will be available as of August 14th but is available for pre-order now.

Last season, Liverpool wore their attractive black shirt for European matches, but this new green design has to go down in the history books as one of the worst Liverpool shirts ever.

With the release of Liverpool’s third shirt, the club has now unveiled all three kits for the 2008/2009 season. These include the gray away shirt and red home shirt, which features the unique red checkered design inside the shirt that’s inspired by the flags of the Kop.

Relief is on the way for Middlesbrough fans who often spill beer on their football shirts.Errea, the manufacturers of Boro’s new home and away football jerseys, have woven in flecks of titanium and silver into the new shirts making them waterproof and resistant to other liquids. No, I’m not making this up.

According to Boro fanzine Fly Me To The Moon, Boro’s new shirts are the first ones ever to incorporate this new nanotechnology.

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Middlesbrough has unveiled their new away shirt for the 2008/2009 season with a design that’s manufactured by Errea and sponsored by Garmin.

The blue and black striped shirt is reminiscent of Inter Milan’s home shirt. But interestingly, according to the Middlesbrough web site, “the new shirt sees a return of the blue and black vertical stripes that were so popular with the club’s supporters in the early 1970s.”

The new away shirt will be available as of July 24.
