i’d take neville even though i wrote him off due to his age and pace but come to think of it, the experience from all the fullbacks won’t be as much as neville’s and i’d rather pick someone who’s got the experience and is still a regular for club that is contending for the premiership. at least we have the option between johnson and neville for more attacking or conservative option

i’m still hoping against hope that wayne bridge will be more professional and leave the personal matters behind even knowing that it is a very personal and emotional saga.

Hopefully Cole will be fit hes a pretty good player and having him would be a big boost.

Wes Brown is a very good player. While he doesn’t have the pace of Evra or the ability to break down play in motion like Ferdinand hes very good at seeing things coming. His foresight makes him a valuable addition to one of the best clubs in the world. He’d be a very valuable asset for England though I expect only people with a deep knowledge of the game to understand his contribution. Just ask Alex Ferguson what he thinks of Wes Brown.

i think your verdict on wes brown is a bit harsh. he will definitely go as back up to johnson, if fit. if not, i would plumb for micah richards ahead of gary neville as my reserve in this position. it seems that capello has written him off, though, after having had a look at him early on.
