Top 10 Most Visited Soccer Websites in the USA

Have you ever wondered what are the most popular soccer sites that American visit? EPL Talk has the answer thanks to Hitwise. Here are the most recent statistics based on market share for the week ending April 26:

  1. ESPN Soccernet, 15.93%
  2. Fox Sports Soccer, 7.50%
  3. Soccer.com, 5.66%
  4. Goal.com, 5.04%
  5. UEFA.com, 3.77%
  6. Major League Soccer, 3.59%
  7. Manchester United, 3.48%
  8. Yahoo Sports World Soccer, 3.44%
  9. Big Soccer, 2.96%
  10. FIFA.com, 2.89%

What’s interesting to me is that UEFA.com has more visitors than the official Major League Soccer site. However, I’m sure that’s related to the final matches in the Champions League as well as the anticipation that’s building for Euro 2008.

Also of note is that Manchester United is the only Premier League club in the top 10. Also impressive is how dominant ESPN Soccernet is in the industry.

Feel free to compare this list to the Top 10 Most Visited British Football Websites.

I’m shocked that FIFA.com is so low. Let me offer a suggestion: I believe much of FIFA.com’s traffic comes through Yahoo, so combining those numbers as well as the numbers for Yahoo’s individual league sites (EPL, MLS, etc) will give you a true reflection of Yahoo!’s market penetration compared to others.

I thought The Offside would be higher.

No surprises to me, except that Fox Sports Soccer gets so many hits. Is Bobby McMahon that popular? Do they have pictures of Michelle Lissel on there or something?

Bob,

I don’t have monthly pageviews readily available, but I have some tools that can provide that information. Jot me at a note at thegaffer[at]epltalk[dot]com if you want to chat more.

Cheers,
The Gaffer
