We often overlook it, but I was pleased to see footballers smiling on the pitch yesterday — specifically the Spaniards who were enjoying their football and playing for what seemed the love of the game and their country.

    Cheers,

Torres truly is the best striker in the world. When I picked up my copy of FFT magazine today, however, David Villa was on the cover proclaimed as the world’s best striker. Villa is good, and he would be the best striker in the world if this was 5 years ago – unfortunately, he’s overshadowed by Torres. This was proven in excess in the first 17 minutes of the Spain-New Zealand match.

I’ve made my thoughts on Torres clear. But David Villa is still a top striker. What a joy to see them play together for Spain. The have a phenomenal chemistry and all the pre-Euro talk about them not being able to play together seems silly in retrospect. They compliment each other well.

Goal.com reported that Barca have offered €50m for Villa. I’m interested to see how that pans out and what it means for Eto’o and the offers he’s getting.
