"they play a brand of football that is most welcome in the Premier League"

This really is utter twaddle, such sentiments are used by Mowbray to disguise a failure to craft a team good enough to survive, they're parroted by ther media who'd rather use the soundbite than actually watch a WBA game to see what type of football they play, and now it's repeated, meme-like on here.

West Brom simply are not good enough, and this idea that they put noble principles ahead of doing what is needed to survive really is utter nonsense.

Now I think West Brom are one of the most likeable clubs in England, their fans are knowledgeable yet humble, dedicated but not deluded, and The Vine pub adjacent to The Hawthorns is the best football pub in all of the UK, given that it has an Indian barbecue grill within. This isn't knee jerk WBA-bashing, but it's tiresome hearing this cliche of West Brom playing 'the right way' and being pretty football martyrs, it's rubbish. It's not too distant from the perpetual assumption that Newcastle play exciting football and are everyone's second favourite team based on one decent season over a decade ago where they went gung-ho, all out attack and ultimately threw away the title.

If I said the Detroit Lions are great because they air it out lots and play exciting passing 'football' you'd think I was an idiot and counter by saying that 4000 yard passing games are no use if you lose every week, and you'd be right.
