West Ham United to Play in 2008 MLS All-Star Game

west ham united West Ham United to Play in 2008 MLS All Star GameWest Ham United will play in the MLS All-Star Game this summer, according to a newspaper report. The game will take place in Toronto and is scheduled for July 24, 2008 at the BMO Field.

This will be the first time West Ham has played in the MLS All-Star Game. In previous years, fellow Premier League teams (and cross-town rivals) have played: Chelsea (2006) and Fulham (2005).

The news, as reported by The Toronto Star newspaper, will be a welcome delight for fans of Premier League clubs in North America. Last summer, Everton, Aston Villa and Chelsea toured the continent. This summer, in addition to West Ham United, plans are that Liverpool and Derby County will also play matches in the United States and possibly Canada.

Despite the Hammers coming to Canada, the news may come as a disappointment to some football fans as Liverpool was rumored to be considering playing the match instead.

What a disgrace. A complete disgrace. This game is little more than a money making sham for MLS and should be discontinued.

The way MLS is going with all this s#$! the league will be out of business soon and we won’t have to worry about all star games. But then again how is soccer going to survive in this country without a legitimate first division sanctioned by FIFA?

dragonki2012, sounds like the game will be better off without glory hunters like you anyway. Good riddence.

Shocking choice of opponent, almost as bad as Fulham. If MLS want to do this they should at least get a decent team to play.

“I’m forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune’s always hiding,
I’ve looked everywhere,
I’m forever blowing bubbles,”
Pretty bubbles in the air.

United…United…United!

I’ll be there.
