Who Are Your Hidden Gems in Fantasy Premier League?

The Boys Are Back In Town 2009 2010 Who Are Your Hidden Gems in Fantasy Premier League?

If you’re like me, you have rotten luck with Fantasy Premier League, the official fantasy football game of the Premier League. Just hours before the season started, I had Didier Drogba and Jermain Defoe as my two starting strikers. But after a change of heart, I decided to replace them with Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Tevez. Silly me. Drogba and Defoe go on to score a hatful of goals while I’m still waiting for Bendtner and Tevez to score in the Premier League this season.

Thankfully the readers of EPL Talk know a fair bit more about picking winning fantasy football players than I do. Right now, EPL Talk is ranked the number one best private league in the world in the Fantasy Premier League standings. If I have a few more weeks of poor results in fantasy football, then don’t be surprised if I bring everyone’s average score down!

In order to help everyone out, last week I asked the EPL Talk followers on Twitter for their suggestions of who they thought were hidden gems in the Fantasy Premier League. Here are a few recommendations:

Last season, Song scored 69 points. So far this season, he’s only got two but maybe NickyButt (not the real Nicky Butt) knows something we don’t know?

Luis Jimenez already has 8 points this season and is a steal at £5 million. He’s played in both league games for the Hammers, and his future looks bright under Zola’s command.

Wigan have had a rocky start to the season despite having a good first half against Manchester United. So far N’Zogbia has scored 10 points for the Latics and his value still remains at £5.5 million.

One more tip: Be sure to keep an eye on the Fantasy Football Scout website which has the latest team news, predicted line-ups, injury updates and much more.

I think Trent Edwards of the Buffalo Bills might be a seal with TO on the team :P

Keep an eye on Everton’s new signing Sylvain Distin as well – at 4.9M, he will be Everton’s cheapest starting defender and they have a very attractive set of fixtures coming up – he could surprise with a combination of clean sheets / bonus points.

not so much a gem, but sunderland’s bent or jones should represent nice value. they’ve already shown they can combine well and they’re fairly cheap. not nearly as much of a steal as some listed in the article but still worth a shout.

Not sure if it’ll be a gem yet but I’m hoping Steven Hunt (5 mil) will continue to play well.

Here are some gems I can think of.
Burnley: After they face Chelsea and Liverpool. I plan on bringing in Bikey as they have proven to be tough defensively. Bikey also seems to be a Bonus Point Magnet.
Hull City: Pretty good start so far. Stephen Hunt and Jozy Altidore look to be good bargain buys at 5.0 a piece. Hunt already has 2 goals this season and Altidore had an assist after coming on as a sub.
Aston Villa: Stephen Warnock could call the Left Back spot his own and MON could move Luke Young to his more natural spot at Right Back.

I also completely agree with Jimenez being a bargain. I fear for Song only because Wenger has done a fair share of rotating in his squad. Song isn’t a sure bet starter. If he was he would definitely be worth a spot.

Diaby’s a good shout at £5.5m too. Fabregas could be out this weekend and although against utd, he coul grab a sneaky goal.
