    Nice lead in…

But lets get some perspective as there are lots of rumours about. Santa Cruz had a great season last year. But lets not forget this was the same guy who couldn't find the back of the net while at Bayern Munich. He is a sell high player, will never be anything more then a squad player on a big team.

Bellars is a travelin man. Its just what he does, and if the Hammers can cash in on him good on umm. They may want to get a finisher, as that last match with Stoke points out. Scott Parker and Davenport are also likely to be shown the door, along with a few reserve players.

The rest is all paper talk rumours. Upson is NOT going anywhere, nor Owen. Elano could get a one way ticket back to the continent, and one of the Jermain(e)'s could move on, but none is of any huge impact.

City will bang out big names, but they will just add to the nervous mix of players already struggling and fighting to get playing time, and at 2 points from the drop you have to be very very careful. With all the proclamation of them as the next it team, they still have a LOT of growing pains to go through. They won't even make the UEFA Cup and beyond money that will make it a tough sell, unless you a mate o Robinho.

I just don't see big money tossed about, the credit crunch has every owner worried about debt being called, and personally I look at Arsenal as the team that will make the most noise this window. They are one of the few internally profitable clubs in the PL, but will Wenger spend it or same it up for anotgher day like last season….

I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas Neill will move out of West Ham before Upson. No surprise Bellamy has started to play better now that the transfer window is nearing. Tottenham or another club will be in for him as of Jan 1.

I hope Paul Stalteri can get a move somewhere from Tottenham. He's not even gotten onto the bench this season. Almost the same situation for Pennant — he needs a move but who will take him? Blackburn?

I don't think Pompey will sell both Crouch and Defoe. That would be giving up on the season. Defoe might go but I'm not conviced that he'll go to Tottenham as than they need some shoring up at the back more than they do upfront.

Elano will sadly move elsewhere as well. I really don't know why though as he was one of City's best players last season. Someone will be able to get a good deal on a decent player.

No one has mentioned Jimmy Bullard. Will Fulham hang onto him or try to cash in on his value now?

I don't think Owen is going anywhere until at least the summer, and the same goes for Defoe and Crouch. Pompey may dump off Nugent cheap to Everton tho. The top half of your list looked about right, plus Elano.

Salteri left Spurs last week to join Borussia Mochengladbach on a free transfer and Portsmouth have announced they've turned down a £30 million pound bid for Crouch, Defoe and Johnson last night!

Completely agree regarding Santa Cruz, I was amazed at his form last season as I had never really been impressed with him at Bayern at all. I think the Fabragas issue may force Wenger's hand tho.

Thanks for the news on Stalteri! I had missed that.

Spurs to swap Aaron Lennon for Jermaine Pennant anyone?

Probably more chance of Harry Redknapp going the rest of the season whithout using the word “triffic”!
