Wolves Score From Wonderful Free Kick On Opening Day Of Season: Video

When you think of Wolverhampton Wanderers, the words ‘glamor club’ don’t often come to mind. But in their opening match of the 2010-11 Premier League season, they created something a little extra special that you wouldn’t expect. An incredibly creative goal that was world class.

The sheer brilliance of the goal reminded the excellent 101 Great Goals blog of a similar goal which was scored in 1970.

If you’ve never seen the goal before, I hadn’t, take a look:

Be sure to watch the replay of it to believe your eyes.

And today, thanks to David Jones of Wolverhampton Wanderers, here’s his beautiful goal that may not be as good as Ernie Hunt’s goal for Coventry against Everton above, but it’s pretty close.

I watched FS+’s “debut” of the Wolves/Stoke game. That was an amazing display of control and ingenuity.

Wolves ran this set piece last season at the end of the year against Portsmouth when Pompey beat them 3-1. A great David James save kept it from the back of the net.
